Welcome to the safe and fun sport of machine-gunning CueCats!
Among their many uses, CueCats make great targets:
They're uniform in size, highly visible, and best of all: free!
Why are we destroying CueCats? Why should you care?
WARNING: Philosophical essay alert!

But before we begin, lets review the NRA Gun Safety Rules:

RECOMMENDATION: For best playback performance,
FIRST download each video
(right-click on a link and choose Save...)
THEN play it from local hard-disk.
This also avoids a problem with Internet Explorer being unable to download the proper codec for the MPEG2 videos even if it's already installed locally. |

A flock of CueCats perched on a fence are straffed by a full-auto AR15.
Tragically, the recording of this happy event
is interrupted when the stream of ejected .223 cartridge casings hits
the camera's "on/off" switch :-)
(Really! We're not making that last part up.) |

Here we put a few CueCats out of their misery in
slow- and excruciating motion.
But don't worry, folks, being nothing more than inanimate consumer kipple, this is the high-point of their existence. After all, who wouldn't want to be a movie star? |

For best results, right-click a link below, download video and play from disk. MPEG1 4.9MB |
| In phase 3, the surviving CueCats are attacked using 2- and 3-round bursts of automatic fire. This proves more effective and much more entertaining. |

The Weapon: A genuine pre-'94-Ban Colt AR15 SP1 with (legally registered, BATF-tax-paid --
here's the paperwork)
drop-in auto-sear and pre-'94-Ban 100-round Beta C-MAG firing .223-caliber FMJ ammo.
The Tranquil Setting: Ah, Nature! Birds are singing, the wind is rustling in the trees, and somewhere, off in the distance, a peaceful machine-gun enthusiast cuts loose with an gut-wrenching volley of full-auto .50-caliber!
Camera Placement: ... Just make sure the ejecting brass doesn't hit the camera :-)
The Shooter: Note the Beta C-MAG...
The Bullet-Hole Ridden Aftermath
"Shovel? Naw, I dug those holes with my full-auto rifle..."

| Isn't this dangerous? |
| No. As we like to say at killcat, Guns don't kill people, bicycles kill people. |
| No, I mean, Isn't this a dangerous violation of DigitalConvergence.com's License Agreement for the CueCats? |
| Hahahaha. |
| What planet are you guys from, anyway? |
| Planet Texas, of course :-) |
| I'd like to shoot my CueCat(s). What's the best caliber and bullet type to use? |
|
Based on our experience, the supersonic .223 caliber round fired by the AR15 is rather boring -- it punches neat holes through the CueCats without really "blowing them up" in a satisfying fashion.
We recommend a larger caliber subsonic handgun round, like 9mm, .40S&W or .45ACP. |
| Is this legal (owning / shooting a machine-gun, that is)? |
|
Most definitely.
Machine-guns are class 3 firearms and as such must be registered with
and are taxed by the
BATF, the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, a division of the U.S. Treasury Dept.
Here's
a snippet of the relevant BATF paperwork, showing the BATF tax-stamp.
As for shooting, it may be possible to find a gun-range which allows machine-guns, or one can always shoot on private land as long as one complies with local laws (e.g., such as being outside city limits, not disturbing the peace, etc.) Natually, one should always follow good gun-safety practices such as the NRA Gun Safety Rules. |
| How can I own a machine-gun? |
|
The possibility of this varies strongly depending on the country, state, county and city in which you live.
The best place to start is probably to ask at local gun stores for more information. They should be able to advise you on local laws, and perhaps recommend a reputable dealer. |
| How expensive is it to own a machine-gun? |
|
One of the cheapest is an UZI sub-machine gun clone made by
Vector Arms.
A fully registered drop-in auto-sear for an AR15 will run about $4000. Prices vary greatly with the political climate and fear of new restrictive gun laws. In general, the high price reflects the scarcity of machine-guns which are available for civilian ownership (as opposed to law-enforcement). Since 1986, it is no longer possible to manufacture machine-guns for sale to the public whether they are registered with the BATF or not. So the supply is fixed and the price has gone up accordingly. |
